Full Spectrum CBD Oil Vs. CBD Isolate [The Differences Are Simple]

What is the Difference Between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate?

If you are reasearching the differences between full spectrum CBD oil and CBD isolate I’m assuming you already know what CBD oil is (If you don’t already you can check out my post about CBD oil here, if not you could just click here). You probably want to know what the benefits are of each one, and which is better, full spectrum CBD oil or CBD isolate?

What the Cannabis Plant Contains

Before you can know the difference between Full spectrum CBD oil and CBD isolate I have to explain a little bit about what the cannabis plant contains.

The cannabis plant contains many cannabinoids, some including:

  • CBD
  • THC
  • CBC
  • CBG
  • CBGV
  • CBDV
  • CBCV
  • THCV

It als contains many terpenes amino acids and vitamins. There are many essential components in the cannabis plant that give it it’s healing properties.

Full Spectrum CBD Oil

Full spectrum CBD oil is more diverse than CBD isolate as the name implies. Full spectrum CBD oil contains all the cannabinoids mentioned above

According to greenwellnesslife.com:

Many people consider full-spectrum CBD to be more beneficial because of these many compounds. Some of those beneficial compounds include:

  • All 20 amino acids
  • Thiamin, niacin and riboflavin (B complex vitamins)
  • Vitamins A, E and C
  • Omega 3 fatty acids
  • Beta-carotene
  • Potassium, magnesium and calcium
  • Phosphorus, iron and zinc

Because full spectrum CBD contains the entirety of the cannabis plant it may contain trace amounts, but legal amounts nonetheless (less than .3%) of THC (the psychoactive component of cannabis).

CBD Isolate

There is not much to say about CBD isolate. It is simply, strictly CBD, the rest of the cannabinoids and terpenes have been removed.

According to marijuanabreak.com: when it comes to drug testing it is preferred to take CBD isolate because the THC is completely removed.

CBD Isolate used to be the prefered option because it was theought that the most beneficial cannabinoid is CBD.

Which is better Full Spectrum CBD or CBD isolate?

Despite CBD isolate being the preferred option in the past, a 2015 study came out that said otherwise.

The study was conducted by the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem.

Basically in the study mice where given full spectrum CBD  and CBD isolate. It came out to be that the mice with the full spectrum CBD were relieved of pain more than the ones who took isolate (you can read the study here

It seems that the consensus on the internet is that all the other cannabinoids work synergistically with CBD and help treat a wide array of problems. The combination makes the effects of CBD more viable.

Full Spectrum CBD Oil Conclusion

When in doubt go with the consensus. It seems like full spectrum CBD is the most effective option, it contains all the benefits of the cannabis plant, cannabinoids, terpenes vitamins and all. CBD isolate seems to be the safer of the options when drug testing is a concern all though full spectrum CBD shouldn’t come up on a drug test either.

I’ve been avidly using CBD to deal with my anxiety, and have been fortunate to do so successfully. I started this blog to share my experience and knowledge with as many people as possible.

  1. In the research I’ve been doing, I’ve come to the understanding that Full Spectrum CBD oils generally do not come in the form of vape liquids. Is this correct?
