All About CBD

What is CBD?

So you’ve definitely heard of CBD lately, that’s why you’re looking it up, obviously. You are probably wondering what it is, what it does and maybe is it for me? Let me begin to address some of these issues.

In a nutshell, CBD is the non-psychoactive cannabanoid in the hemp and marijuana plant. CBD will NOT get you high, neither is that a reason to take it.

If you are wondering, THC is the psychoactive component in marijuana. CBD oils either contain no THC or very minute traces (typically around .3% THC), so I’m sorry but you won’t be listening to psychedelic music or getting high.

CBD is perfectly safe to use (although you should consult your health practitioner if you take any medication because it may inhibit the effects of those meds), it is legal almost everywhere in the states and is starting to be used for many ailment. Sounds good, right?

What is CBD Used For?

well this is the most amazing part. CBD is now being used by people to treat a whole array of issues. There is very convincing evidence to suggest, and my own experience, that its an effective treatment for anxiety. Another top benefit you hear of a lot is that it is great for pain management. Here’s a list of some of the things it treat:

  • epilepsey
  • pain and inflimation
  • anxiety
  • aids in fighting cancer
  • psychological disorders
  • nausea
  • arthritis
  • multiple sclerosis
  • headaches

While mainstream research is fairly new on CBD and its effects, I am positive that as time goes on there will be even more benefits added to the list, people are discovering new uses for it everyday.

How does CBD work?

This all sounds great, so if you’re curious you may be asking, how does CBD work exactly? Well, scientists have discovered that the human body has an endocannabinoid system (try spelling that without looking).

The endocannabinoid system reacts to cannabinoids the body produces by providing a balance, known as homeostasis. The human body has cannabinoid receptors, two known ones are the CB1 and CB2 receptors.

When the body creates endocannabinoids they stimulate these receptors, when you go further and introduce cannabinoids into the system through CBD you are increasing the benefits. Research shows that the endocannabinoid system is synonymous with health

How to take CBD Oil

We went over all the informative stuff, (what a relief) if you are still with me at this point, you might be asking, how do I take CBD? Well, there are just so many CBD products popping up on the marketplace, but the most popular way of taking CBD is by purchasing a CBD oil and administering it sublingually.

Each product varies on the number of suggested drops to take, but I noticed you have to do some tweaking, start out with the lowest dose then work your way up to an amount that works for you. Each company has different milligram strengths, my advise is the same here, start with the lowest one if you are new to CBD and work your way up.

If you have a more serious condition or extreme anxiety you might need higher doses. It seems to depend on the individual and the type of ailment. As far as I know, and have been doing, CBD can be taken daily. There are also more creative options out there, they range from CBD vaping e-liquids to edible gummy bears.

Side Effects of CBD Oil

There are hardly any known side effects, except you might experience a dry mouth, and for the next side effect you’re gonna want to prepare a five star meal, because you may have an increased appetite (which I’m not even sure if it is a side effect, it may be a benefit to some because CBD will reduce nausea dramatically).

I have experienced both the first day I took CBD, the dry mouth was very mild and disappeared as soon as the second day when I again took CBD, the increase in appetite was a well-welcomed benefit for me since I’m weighing in at around 125 pounds and get extremely nauseous when I eat at times, there was no nausea present.
